Soundcloud – Bass Groove Directive

Another collaboration with Mark Dorricott.
This has been the fastest turnaround yet. Heard the first version of the song on wednesday, asked Mark if he wanted me to go crazy on it. Received the files on thursday morning, and about two hours later the finished mix was up in the cloud.

Three tracks:

  1. Bassline: Bass EQ all the way up, bass through the 3leaf Audio Wonderlove and a hard working JoeMeek FloorQ. Really using all the bad character of the JoeMeek to shape the sound.
  2. Slap embellishments: Just a clean sound
  3. Solo: clean sound with bass cut, and extra hi mid.

The onboard EQ from UNICORNbass really had to work on this session. And it delivered! The best onboard electronics I’ve ever tried.

Me on 5 string Watson SC 5 string bass, modified by UNICORNbass. Recorded with the B7K from Darkglass Electronics, Wonderlove from 3leaf Audio and the FloorQ by JoeMeek.

Finally after a day in the customs, and some taxes to pay: the Wonderlove from 3Leaf Audio. Build quality feels great, switches and pots on par with high quality studio equipment. Can’t wait to try it out.
